Our Story

Trace Roofing & Construction started like a friends and family roofing service In Houston, Tx.  We genuinely care about helping Texas homeowners take care of what’s probably their biggest investment: their house.

John got his start in roofing over in Houston during what turned out to be one of the wildest storm seasons Texas has ever had. He watched tornadoes, hail, and hurricanes just wreck entire neighborhoods. What really got to him was seeing how much people struggled trying to deal with their insurance companies. Most folks had no idea how to get the coverage they’d been paying for all those years. While he was working for another company, John figured out how to work with adjusters, document everything the right way, and actually get insurance carriers to approve full replacements.

After doing this for years and helping hundreds of families through the claims process, his brother and John  decided to start their own thing in 2022. They wanted to do roofing the right way: quality work, straight talk, and promises they could actually keep.

We’ve done thousands of roofs across Texas since then, and we’ve earned a pretty good reputation for doing solid work and being people you can count on.

Coming Back Home to the Valley

We started up in Houston, but the Rio Grande Valley is where John’s from. He came back to visit family one time and couldn’t help but notice how many houses around here had beat up or really old roofs. And there just weren’t that many good contractors around to help people out. So he figured, why not bring what we’ve been doing in Houston back home?

We opened our Valley office in 2025 and started taking care of folks in Harlingen, San Benito, Brownsville, and all around here.

Look, South Texas doesn’t get hammered by storms quite as much as other parts of the state. But people still need good roofs, and we’re here to make sure they get them. We offer financing now so pretty much anyone can afford a quality roof. We’re not going to cheap out on materials or cut corners just to hit a price point.
